Canice

Canice m
Irish: from the Latinized form, Canisius, of the Old Irish personal name Cainnech (modern Gaelic Cainneach; cf. COINNEACH (SEE Coinneach)). It seems to have been originally a byname meaning ‘handsome, fair one’, and was borne by a large number of early saints. The most important of these is St Cainnech of Aghaboe, patron of Kilkenny. See also KENNY (SEE Kenny).
